LISTING OF JNF TU BISHVAT PROGRAMS (PARTNERING WITH SYNAGOGUES) AND JNF TU BISHVAT TELETHON-VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Jan 15, 2013

Tu B’Shevat For Teens in partnership with Congregation Etz Chayim with "Poor Boy" performing live at the Assiniboine Park Conservatory on Saturday, January 19th, from 8pm-11pm (Admission is $5.00, please register ahead, call 204-589-6305 or e-mail linastreltsov@etzchayim.ca)!

The 2nd Annual Tu B’Shevat Family Event in partnership with the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue at the Manitoba Children’s Museum on Sunday, January 20th, at 2pm! (Admission is $10)

Tu B’Shevat For Grown Ups at the Fort Garry Hotel in partnership with the New Shul – Saturday, January 26th at 7 PM. Share in the joy and inspiration found even in the depths of a prolonged winter as we dine, sing and reflect on the New Year of Trees. Join us as we taste the hidden order of creation celebrated by the Jewish mystics of Safed, who marveled at the connections between all living things in our universe. A dairy/vegetarian meal will be served, followed by the screening of "A Sacred Duty", a film about environment, diet and the ancient Jewish concept of human obligation to guard all of life together with a discussion led by Rabbi Larry Pinsker. Tickets are $55 (info@newshulwinnipeg.org or 204-415-8338).

Volunteers Needed!

The Jewish National Fund is pleased to present the 2013 Tu B’Shevat Telethon in support of the Kissufim Forest and Recreation Area in the Negev. The telethon will take place on Sunday, January 27th in the multi purpose room located at the Asper Jewish Community Campus (123 Doncaster St.) from 1:00pm – 7:00 pm.

If you wish to volunteer, there are 2 volunteer shifts to choose from:

Early Shift: 1:00pm – 4:00pm (1:00pm – 1:30pm – Orientation/Lunch)
Late Shift: 4:00pm – 7:00pm (4:00pm – 4:30pm – Orientation/Dinner)

The Kissufim Forest and Recreation Area is part of the JNF’s continuous efforts to Green the Negev. This rest and recreation venue will add enormously to the quality of life for Israelis who have been traumatized by the recent security situation in Southern Israel. The youth of the area have suffered post-traumatic stress syndrome and studies show that providing forest recreation alleviates tension.

This is our chance to make a difference!

For more information about the Tu B’Shevat Telethon or to register to volunteer, please contact Tasha at wpg.assist@jnf.ca or at 204-947-0207!

Best Regards,

Rob Berkowits
