Hello Ms Spivak,
I am writing because I wanted to let you know about the local shul, Shaarey Zedek, and their participation in a Canadian campaign to coincide with the 70th anniversary of D-Day this week. They will be saying Kaddish for the Jewish servicemen from Winnipeg (there were 13) who were killed in France and are buried in cemeteries across Normandy, as a result of their service in the Second World War.
Bill Weissman was my contact there.
I attach a list of their names, hometowns, and brief bios. You can find more on the Kaddish For DDay Facebook page, on the blog, and in the Canadian Jewish News which ran a front page story on this today.
Would you consider covering this story, in honour of the Winnipeggers who gave their lives to help liberate Europe from the Nazis?
Feel free to use the information, or don't hesitate to contact me for further details.
