Toronto – Today, the Ontario Court of Appeal upheld the lower court's decision to extradite Hassan Diab to France, where he is suspected of having been involved in a deadly attack on a Paris synagogue in 1980.

In reaction to the Ontario Court’s decision, David Koschitzky, Chair of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), issued the following statement:

“We applaud the decision rendered today by the Ontario Court of Appeal upholding the extradition order issued in 2011. The fact that the main suspect in this hateful terrorist attack will indeed face the justice system gives hope to the survivors and to the families of the innocent victims. The upholding of the extradition order does not assume Diab’s culpability. Diab will be able to defend himself before France’s judicial system, which is just as impartial as Canada’s.”
