FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, July 24, 2014

July 18, 2014 Toronto – Jewish human rights organization B’nai Brith Canada is calling for additional oversight at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNWRA) following the disturbing discovery that 20 rockets were found hidden in a vacant UNRWA school.

Frank Dimant, CEO, B’nai Brith Canada, issued the following statement:

“This is sadly another example of hypocrisy at the United Nations and its agencies and further proof that Palestinian terror organizations are using civilians and civilian institutions as cover for their terrorist operations. While UNWRA has assured the global community that the rockets have been removed, it has yet to clarify whether or not the rockets were returned to the terrorist organizations that placed them there or were destroyed.

“The United Nations must ensure that its facilities are not used to store or manufacture weapons weapons and that U.N. funds are not funneled to terrorists. It is time that having a special agency solely for Palestinians – one often used as a political tool against a liberal democracy – be abandoned in favor of the existing universal UN Refugee Agency handling all other refugees.”
