B’nai Brith Canada has called on all Canadians to mark the eleventh anniversary tomorrow of the 9/11 attacks, which claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 innocent men, women and children. The Jewish human rights organization continues to stress the importance of memorializing the victims of this cowardly terror attack and standing firm against the forces of terrorism that still operate across the globe today.
Frank Dimant, CEO of B’nai Brith Canada, issued the following statement:
“Tomorrow we will honour and remember those who died at the hands of terrorists on that fateful day. We must continue to condemn such horrific acts of terror wherever they occur, to demonstrate our unwavering opposition to those with an agenda of hate and violence. The Government of Canada continues to take a principled stance on this issue, and it is our hope that other world leaders will follow its example.
“Despite the neutralization of Osama bin Laden, the threat of Islamist extremism remains ever-present. As we mourn the victims and pay tribute to the heroes of 9/11 – the first responders who risked their lives to save others – let us pledge that we will continue to fight those who threaten to destroy all that our Western democratic society stands for.”
