 TORONTO, 22 Canadian Jews were presented with Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals for their dedication and service to Canada during B’nai Brith Canada’s annual National Policy Conference.   The recipients were awarded the historic honour before a record 200 guests including, cabinet ministers, members of the diplomatic core, public officials, community leaders, friends and family.

 On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the accession to the throne of Her Majesty The Queen and the 137th anniversary of B’nai Brith in Canada, the ceremony presented medals to pioneering philanthropists, such as Dr. Max Glassman, Joe Lebovic and Joe Bogoroch as well as noted human rights advocates, such as Frank Dimant, CEO of B’nai Brith Canada, Ruth Klein, B’nai Brith Canada’s national director of advocacy and Michael Mostyn, B’nai Brith Canada’s chair of government relations, for the substantial impact they have made on the lives of all Canadians and their enormous contributions to the enhancement of the nation.
 
At a similar ceremony in Montreal, Quebec, medals were presented by Senator Larry Smith to Eric Bissell, national president of B’nai Brith Canada, Ted Greenfield, B’nai Brith International vice-president and Marilyn Frankel, founding chair of the Institute for International Affairs of B’nai Brith Canada.
 
B’nai Brith Canada has offered its warmest congratulations to the medal recipients and has expressed its deepest gratitude to them for their unparalleled devotion to Canada and the Canadian Jewish community.
