For the first time ever, Canada Post has created two picture postage stamps specifically designed to celebrate Chanukah. [wouldn ‘t it be nice if they made eight stamps, one for each day!] One stamp depicts a nine-branched Menorah lit in honour of the holiday , and the words ‘Happy Hanukkah’ in English and French. The second is of a a dreidel with the words ‘Happy Hanukkah’ in English and French. The Jewish Tribune reported that these " stamps have been doing extremely well", according to a spokesperson for Canada Post . The stamps went on sale on Oct. 16 and sold out online. They are being reprinted due to the demand and will be available online again from Nov. 24. They are still available in select postal outlets across Canada. Customers can also order by phone, or mail. “We hope the community will embrace these new stamps and use them to add a special touch to their Chanukah greeting,” the spokesperson told the Jewish Tribune. If they sell well enough, maybe next year th e post office will issue a stamp with a picture of greasy latkes or jambusters.
