A Former Dutch Prime Minister Dries van Act has just reportedly said that rather than have the state of israel, Jews should have had a state in Germany.

“Jews need a safe place. Why couldn’t they get a safe place in Germany, at the time?” Dries Van Agt said on November 8 during a seminar in Nijmegen, according to the Dutch daily Telegraaf.
Now, that’s a real zinger of a question from a former Prime Minister no less. Too bad Dries van Agt didn’t raise it at the time–I’m sure his friends in Germany would have welcomed a Jewish state in their midst. Is it too late for van Agt to get elected to the German Parliament?
And what about Ben-Gurion ? For all these years, I have thought that David Ben-Gurion was pretty smart–Amazing isn’t it that he and the other Zionist leaders of the day didn’t realize that instead of worrying about the British white paper, and having to fight a little war of independence, they could have just opened up shop in Germany.
