Marcie Knight, Udow’s spouse, says she also is not involved in the selection of the next principal. Not only that, she says she is not retiring.
Udow is the current chair of Manitoba’s UNESCO Associated Schools Network and a member of the Manitoba Education for Sustainable Development Working Group.
Although Udow is retiring he will be giving a session at the Sustainability: Educating for ACTion Conference in November 2012. His topic is "Exploring the Relationship between ESD and Cultural Diversity within the Elementary Classroom."
According to the Conference’s website, "This presentation will showcase a cultural diversity project that brings together Grades 5 and 6 students from five UNESCO-affiliated schools in Winnipeg, including an Islamic, Catholic, Aboriginal, public, and Hebrew bilingual school. It will investigate the key innovative teaching processes that underpin ESD frameworks and practices as well as the related learning opportunities that contribute to sustainability within the context of cultural diversity education."
