Former Winnipegger Velvl Greene, Head of BGU Jewish Medical Ethics, Died at 83

Renowned former chairman of epidemiology and public health at Ben-Gurion University, Professor Velvl Greene, who was borne in Winnipeg to  ardently secular, Zionist parents in 1928, died in Israel at the age of 83 recently. Green made aliya in 1986.

Greene maintained a dialogue with the late Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson about religion and science. He headed the Lord Jakobovitz Center for Jewish Medical Ethics at BGU
