Dear Winnipeg Jewish Review,
Over the past number of months, I have become a regular reader of your excellent online newspaper. Now that I have finished classes for the year and find myself with some free time on my hands, it occurred to me that I could actually contribute to your newspaper.
Fresh on the heels of the ongoing "democratic revolutions" in the Arab world, I am interested in writing a piece on the potential for successful democracy in the region, with a special focus on Iraq,which was of course touted as a "model democracy" for the Arab world following the American invasion and state-building. I have just completed my first year at the University of Toronto studying International Relations and Middle Eastern Studies, giving me the necessary background for a solid analysis of the issue.
