Dear Rhonda,
Back in April you ran an editorial (Israel Advocacy on Campus: Fund Them and They Will Go)that I am still thinking about. You stated that when you were a university student, you attended the General Assembly of Jewish Federations which helped ground you in your advocacy of Israel and Jewish history. I have made inquiries and found that this support for our current university students has been discontinued. Is this due to lack of funding or lack of interest?
Given the fact that the new president of U.M.S.U. is an ardent IAW activist, as are several of its members,it seems to me now is the wrong time to neglect projects which affirm our young people’s identity. Based on what I have heard personally, from students who weathered this past UAW as well as the ongoing attacks throughout the year, they are being thrown to the wolves.
When did providing strong support for our leaders of tomorrow fall off the agenda?
Is somebody out there listening?
